Open Journal System’s preservation and upgrades policy
1. Policy
-State and Commons, journal of policies and public issues, published by the Institute of Advanced National Studies (IAEN), through digital preservation methods, ensures a secure and permanent archive for the journal content of the electronic documents. Storage is built for an indefinite period of time that upholds attributes such as: integrity, authenticity, inalterability, originality, reliability, and accessibility.
2. Preservation
-This journal employs the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system. It allows the creation of a file system distributed among several instances, which guarantees a permanent and secure file. The creation of other permanent archives of the journal for conservation and restoration purposes is also planned.
-OJS platform preservation is carried out through IAEN’s information backup process on a regular basis. This activity is responsibility of IAEN´s IT Department, which makes identical backups incrementally.
-Additionally, the journal is archived in the institutional repository available at IAEN´s web site (https://editorial.iaen.edu.ec/titulos/?id=REV-ACA). There is an updated and complete backup of the published journals. This work is carried out every six months, as the new issue is published.
3. Upgrade
-OJS platform administrator keeps the content, announcements, journal presentation and calls for papers updated.
4. Procedures
-The Institute of Advanced National Studies (IAEN) in compliance with preservation policies, are governed by the following procedures: storage, use of preservation strategies (such as migration, emulation, preservation of technology, digital archeology), encapsulation, self-sufficient and self-documenting code.
